Purpose

This Yoga Teacher Training is designed to develop confident, knowledgeable, and embodied yoga teachers who can guide students through safe, intentional, and transformative Vinyasa practices.

What to expect

Trainees can expect a comprehensive and immersive learning experience that blends traditional yogic wisdom with contemporary teaching methodology. The training includes:

•  Foundational anatomy and biomechanics for safe, functional movement

•  Vinyasa sequencing principles rooted in breath, flow, and intelligent progression

•  Yoga philosophy and ethics, including the Eight Limbs and foundational texts

•  Pranayama, meditation, and subtle body studies, including chakras and energetic alignment

•  Practice teaching with feedback to build confidence and refine voice

•  Hands‑on assisting and cueing techniques that prioritize consent and safety

•  Self‑study and personal practice development to support embodied leadership

•  Community connection, reflective exercises, and opportunities for mentorship

Graduates leave with the skills to design and lead cohesive Vinyasa classes, adapt practices for diverse bodies, and teach with presence, purpose, and integrity.

Style/Lineage

The style of yoga taught in this training is rooted in the Vinyasa lineage, drawing inspiration from the fluid, breath‑led teachings that evolved from Krishnamacharya’s school and later expanded through modern innovators of flow‑based practice. This approach honors the traditional foundations of yoga while embracing contemporary understanding of movement, anatomy, and accessibility.

Core competencies

By the end of this program, graduates will be able to…

Practice Skills
  • Practice asana from the curriculum with clear, safe, and adaptable asana technique, including appropriate modifications, to support multiple levels and diverse body types
  • Practice meditations by demonstrating proper technique, appropriate pacing, sustained attention, for visualization, yoga nidra, mindfulness, mantras, and walking meditation
  • Describe subtle body awareness by explaining the primary energetic frameworks used to view the body—including the kośas, chakras, prāṇa vāyus, and nāḍīs—and describing how these systems influence the nervous system and the mind–body connection
  • Practice pranayama techniques by practicing dīrgha prāṇāyāma, ujjāyī, kapālabhāti, bhastrikā, and nāḍī śodhana with correct posture, breath mechanics, rhythm, control, and self-regulation
Teaching Skills
  • Develop class theming by creating a list of thematic concepts, explaining their relevance to selected asanas, and correlating each theme with an appropriate opening meditation and closing reflection or meditation
  • Guide a group through a full asana class by clearly and confidently managing room dynamics, using proper cues, fluid transitions, providing modifications, timing and breath, and calling each pose by their proper sanskrit names
  • Cue asana and transitional movement between asanas by delivering clear, concise verbal instructions that provide accurate bodily direction and alignment support
  • Plan a 60 min class using either a peak pose or ladder flow sequencing style by structuring warm-up, progressive sequencing, peak or ladder elements, and cool-down to support safety, coherence, and intention
Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics
  • Describe the musculoskeletal system by identifying its primary components (bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments) and explaining their roles in movement, stability, and posture
  • List anatomical actions at joints by explaining safe movement principles, normal ranges of motion, end-range strength, and the differences between active and passive stretching
  • Explain compression vs tension by identifying the stopping point in a given posture and describing how skeletal contact, tissue stretch, or joint limitation determines when a movement should end
  • Explain anatomical variations by describing how differences in bone structure, joint shape, tissue length, and proportionality vary from body to body and explaining how these variations influence safe alignment, range of motion, and teaching choices
  • Explain the nervous system by describing the roles of the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches and introducing key concepts from polyvagal theory, including how these systems influence energetic regulation, psychological states, and physiological responses
Yoga History & Theory
  • Explain the definition of yoga by describing its etymology, summarizing key philosophical perspectives, and explaining how yogic practices are integrated into daily life
  • Describe the 8 limbs of yoga (yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, samadhi) and explain how they influence and support a yogic lifestyle
  • Compare ancient texts by reviewing the bhagavad gita, light on yoga, and their impact on todays yoga
  • Discuss the secret power of yoga as an alternative translation of the yoga sutras through a more feminine lens
  • Explain history and lineages of yoga by describing major styles and traditions and summarizing how these teachings evolved into contemporary, westernized yoga practices
Lifestyle & Ethics
  • Explain ethical teaching by demonstrating appropriate professional behavior, following ethical teaching practices, and operating within a yoga teacher’s defined scope of practice
  • Embody yogic lifestyle by integrating the yamas and niyamas, practicing selfless action (sevā), and demonstrating mindful, sustainable choices in daily life beyond the yoga mat
  • Describe cultural appropriation in a yogic context by defining the term, identifying common examples within modern yoga culture, and explaining why appropriation causes harm
  • Explain equitable yoga by defining equity and inclusivity and describing how they differ from equality within yoga spaces, teaching, and community settings
Business Skills
  • Develop a business plan by setting bench marks for goals for the development of teaching and practice skills post certification for 1 month, 4 months, 8 months, and 1 year
  • Discuss credentialing benefits, options of companies, and the importance of continuation of education
  • Describe the practical realities of being a yoga professional by explaining basic legal and business considerations, including liability insurance, independent contractor versus employee roles, donation-based classes, and foundational accounting practices
  • Develop a marketing plan using a logistical, action-oriented approach by identifying outreach strategies, selecting communities that align with personal values, and implementing practical, on-the-ground steps to build visibility and relationships
