You will leave this program feeling prepared to lead a wide range of class formats with clarity, adaptability and authenticity.

Creative and Intuitive Sequencing

Learn how to thoughtfully build well rounded, safe and intentional classes. Additionally, receive several tried-and-true class templates to support beginning your teaching journey.

Style/Lineage

The Radiance Yoga Lead with Love Yoga Teacher Training Program is based in a foundational vinyasa style with a focus on alignment, modifications, clear communication and mindfulness/compassion practices.

Lifestyle & Ethics
  • Describe how your experience of compassion practices (including metta meditation, rain, tonglen, hoponono)
  • Describe your experience of applying each of the four agreements in your daily life and teaching
  • Through the lens of love and compassion, discuss the scope of practice of a yoga teacher and discuss the importance establishing clear and professional relationships
Practice Skills
  • Describe how chanting mantra can transform one's internal felt experience as well as increase a sense of communal connection.
  • Describe your experience of the five koshas identifying the layers and sharing your felt and embodied experience of each layer.
  • Describe the impact of various breath practices (including viloma, brahmari, kapalabhati and kumbhaka) including your felt experience of each technique and how and when they may be effectively used in a yoga class.
  • Describe the evolution of your personal practice (asana, pranayama, and meditation) over the course of the program including your ability to balance appropriate challenge and rest, adapt your practice and choice of class style for the needs of that day, and describing how intuition and self-trust help support harmony and balance.
  • Chant select mantra (including om, the gayatri mantra, om namah shivaya) with accurate pronunciation, good intonation, and an understanding of the translation.
Business Skills
  • Describe your ideal professional vision and goals including potential teaching opportunities and venues, business challenges, and immediate first steps.
  • Discuss professional considerations and obligations of being a yoga teacher including the importance of liability insurance, continuing education, and membership in professional organizations.
Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics
  • Given a family of poses from the curriculum describe your embodied experience of the major relevant muscles, bones, and joints.
  • For a given posture identify common compensations as well as appropriate adaptations for students working with injuries.
  • Describe the nervous system, including the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches, and describe how various yoga pratice (asana, meditation, pranayama) may help to bring the body back into harmony.
Yoga History & Theory
  • Discuss each of the eight limbs of patanjali's yoga sutra by pronouncing them correctly in sanskrit, defining each in your own words, and discussing how each one may be embodied and expressed in yoga practice as well as your personal daily life.
  • Describe the fundamental architecture of the subtle body, including the three primary nadis and each of the primary seven chakras by pronouncing them correctly in sanskrit, identifying each chakra's bija mantra and color, demonstrating their placement in the body, and describing your visceral experience of each chakra and nadi through meditation and balancing practices.
Teaching Skills
  • Teach a pose from the curriculum safely and effectively saying the name of the posture first, teaching to three key points of form and/or alignment, and cuing sensibly from the foundation up.
  • Confidently demonstrate and teach foundational breath practices (including ujjayi, nadi shodhana, and counted breath) in a group class setting with appropriate posture, accurate verbalization, and effective cadence.
  • Adapt (modify or amplify) a set class template (foundational vinyasa, gentle yoga, or a peak pose sequence) and adapt the sequence
  • Demonstrate the ability to hold space through creating a safe and welcoming environment, demonstrating open body language, balancing demonstration and observation, and speaking confidently, warmly and efficiently.
  • Create a holistic and cohesive class experience through setting a clear opening and closing of class, weaving a consistent thematic intention, and incorporating breathwork and meditation if appropriate.
  • Adapt your cuing to address the particular needs of the class, including appropriate modifications for individual students to address injuries, body type, capacity, or specific needs.

AYC allows each school to state and evaluate the competencies each student acquires. Students rate how well the program delivered them.
