Purpose

The Yoga Awakening Online Training aims to deliver a comprehensive, personalized, and transformational program that demonstrates the power of a disciplined yoga practice, deepens understanding, builds teaching skills, and awakens personal growth.

What to expect

This program is for anyone who would like to deepen their yoga practice, understanding that the ultimate goal of yoga - Enlightenment - is obtained through a consistent, steady practice. You can expect a structured yet flexible online training that blends philosophy, practice, and teaching methodology. Each class offers guided practices, philosophy, and interactive assignments designed to deepen your knowledge, strengthen your personal discipline, and prepare you to creatively and confidently share yoga with others.

Style/Lineage

Yoga Awakening Online Training offers an eclectic program that draws from the traditions of Anusara, Vinyasa Flow, Bhakti, Hatha, Kundalini and Ashtanga-inspired practices. This integrated approach combines alignment-based precision, fluid sequencing, devotional expression, and mindful discipline to create a well-rounded practice. Guided by the philosophy that there are many paths leading to the same truth, this training program is accessible to practitioners of all levels and is designed to cultivate individual creativity, inner awareness and personal growth.

Lifestyle & Ethics
  • Apply principles of ayurvedic health including, dosha assessment and lifestyle guidelines
Teaching Skills
  • Create aligned and balanced yoga sequences for varying levels of students with principles of alignment in standing, seated, and supine postures
  • Apply sequencing methodology for hatha, vinyasa, and ashtanga-inspired classes adapting hatha, bhakti, vinyasa, kundalini, ashtanga, and anusara techniques to individual needs of the students
  • Teach ujjayi pranayama, nadi shodhana, kapalabhti, and bastrika with controlled inhalation and exhalation, correct rhythm, timing, sound, focus, clear guidance, and demonstration
  • Create a practice for individual needs, injuries, or limitations by modifying postures and sequences for students with injuries or limitations and guiding students to use yoga tune up balls for specific myofascial release
Practice Skills
  • Demonstrate sun salutation a and sun b sequence with proper alignment and breath coordination
  • Perform mantra chanting in practice and meditation by chanting simple mantras with correct pronunciation, rhythm, and intention.
  • Practice foundational postures (e.g., warrior i & ii, triangle) with alignment and stability according to anusara principles
Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics
  • Identify major anatomical structures relevant to yoga practice — including joints, muscles, and skeletal alignment and explain how they influence posture mechanics, safe alignment, and applications within therapeutic yoga.
  • Explain the principles of myofascial release and how tune up balls can be applied to support tissue hydration, mobility, and therapeutic outcomes within a yoga practice.
Yoga History & Theory
  • Discuss the eight limbs of yoga according to patanjali’s yoga sutras including the meaning and pronunciation of common sanskrit yoga terms and sutras, key teachings from the yoga sutras, and their modern application
  • Discuss prominent hindu gods and goddesses including their symbolic significance in yoga philosophy
  • Describe the characteristics of the seven chakras and their relevance to energetic balance within hatha yoga practice

AYC allows each school to state and evaluate the competencies each student acquires. Students rate how well the program delivered them.
