Style/Lineage

Baptiste Yoga was developed in the 1990s by Baron Baptiste, a second-generation yoga teacher influenced by his parents’ teachings. He studied directly under Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, founder of Ashtanga Yoga and BKS Iyengar of Iyengar Yoga. His unique synthesis became a powerful, practical methodology known as Baptiste power vinyasa yoga. While rooted in classical yoga principles, Baptiste yoga stands out for its focus on accessibility, self-empowerment, and transformation.

Baron Baptiste is an author, speaker, trainer, entrepreneur, and podcaster whose work empowers individuals to lead themselves and others with purpose and impact.

Baron’s roots trace back to 1954, when his parents, entrepreneurs and pioneers in human potential and holistic health, opened The Golden Chance, San Francisco’s first yoga and physical culture center, planting the seeds for what would become Baptiste Yoga. In the early 1990s, after moving to Los Angeles, Baron’s power vinyasa classes in Hollywood grew from dozens to more than 2,000 students a week, attracting Hollywood A-listers and elite athletes. Rooted in tradition and fueled by innovation, his approach reshaped modern yoga.

In the mid-1990s, Baron joined the Philadelphia Eagles as Peak Performance Specialist. In the 2000s, he brought yoga into the mainstream through ESPN, PBS, QVC, national media, and radio, reaching millions. A New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author, his books - including Journey Into Power - helped redefine yoga as a tool for leadership and self-empowerment.

Through global leadership programs, nonprofit initiatives in Africa and the U.S., a decade as a Lululemon global ambassador, and now The Baron Baptiste Show - ranked in the top 2% of podcasts worldwide - Baron continues to empower entrepreneurs, leaders, and changemakers around the globe.
