Additional Information

Core competencies

By the end of this program, graduates will be able to…

Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics
  • Apply nervous system knowledge to class design by selecting breathing techniques, pacing, and posture sequences that intentionally down-regulate a stressed or hyperactivated class, guiding students toward embodied physiological calm
  • Apply respiratory knowledge to teach safe breathing progressions in yoga class accurately cueing diaphragmatic breathing, advising students on breath-hold practices, and identifying when a student's breathing pattern poses a physiological risk
  • Analyze how chronic fascial restriction, muscular imbalances, or bony variation create predictable patterns of compensation in yoga practice and examine how blissology's duo (dynamic unifying opposition) framework addresses these patterns
Business Skills
  • Identify the primary business models available to yoga teachers — studio employment, independent contracting, private clients, online teaching, retreats — and list the key elements of professional yoga teaching practice: rates, contracts, insurance, and self-promotion.
Lifestyle & Ethics
  • Explain the distinction between lifespan (years lived) and movement span (years of pain-free, functional, joyful movement) and describe how blissology's yoga system is designed to optimize movement span by prioritizing joint health, nervous system regulation, and embodied joy
  • Evaluate the degree to which your yoga teaching addresses students at multiple levels of consciousness — physical, pranic, mental, wisdom — assessing whether your class creates conditions for genuine inner contact or primarily delivers a physical fitness experience
  • Explain the ethical responsibilities of a certified yoga teacher — scope of practice, student boundaries, cultural humility, honest representation of lineage and training — and describe how the blissology teacher identity integrates professional competence with personal authenticity
  • Explain how the gunas function as a practical energy map for understanding the shifting quality of consciousness and physical energy, describing how yoga practice, diet, environment, and relationship all influence guna balance
  • Analyze the ethical dimensions of hands-on adjustment in yoga — including power dynamics, cultural sensitivities, and trauma considerations — examining how blissology's adjustment philosophy mitigates these risks through consent-first practices
Practice Skills
  • Identify the core vision of blissology — bringing more love, awe, and joy into the world — and list the foundational principles of the upward spiral, including connection to nature, inner stillness, and community as currency
  • Apply the upward spiral framework to design a personal sadhana that integrates daily asana, breathwork, meditation, nature connection, and community engagement in a sustainable rhythm aligned with your life mission and teaching schedule
Teaching Skills
  • Analyze the movement patterns of a yoga student to identify whether their practice is predominantly yin-dominant (passive, flexibility-focused, potentially destabilizing) or yang-dominant (rigid, strength-focused, potentially compressive), and recommend balancing interventions
  • Evaluate a student's yoga practice history and current movement presentation to assess their cumulative injury risk identifying which poses require modification and which long-standing movement habits may predispose them to chronic problems
  • Apply somatic movement principles to guide students through a self-adjustment practice using cueing that prioritizes internal sensation over external appearance and empowers students to find the pose that serves their unique body
  • Design a class plan that teaches one complete variation of the yoga honey sequence to a mixed-level group including entry-level modifications, prop suggestions, duo cues, breath guidance, and a structured warm-up and cool-down arc
  • Explain how a well-sequenced blissology vinyasa class creates a felt arc of purpose and presence — warming the body, building toward a peak, and systematically unwinding — describing why this arc produces the 'great-feeling body' experience
  • Apply down-regulating breathing techniques accurately cueing the breath ratio, duration, and body positioning for each technique, and monitoring students for signs of adverse response (dizziness, hyperventilation)
Yoga History & Theory
  • Explain how the yoga sutras' core teachings (chitta vritti nirodha, the eight limbs, the nature of suffering and liberation) inform the blissology approach to yoga as a pathway to inner joy rather than mere physical fitness
  • Explain how meditation functions as the inner complement to asana practice in the blissology system describing how regular meditation practice deepens the practitioner's access to the still inner source of joy, love, and bliss that is the heart of blissology
  • Apply the conduit for love principles to your personal teaching practice, implementing at least three strategies for energetic self-replenishment — including personal sadhana, nature connection, and community — and articulating how these support your capacity to give
  • Apply community-building principles to the design of a yoga class or workshop experience intentionally creating structures for authentic student connection — pre-class interaction, partner practices, shared reflection — that extend beyond the asana
  • Explain the philosophical and scientific basis for blissology's position that deep connection to nature is not supplementary but essential to the yoga path describing how ecological consciousness and personal bliss practice reinforce and deepen each other
  • Identify the sanskrit names for all postures in the yoga honey series listing their english translations, and the primary anatomical focus and energetic quality of each pose as described in the blissology lexicon.

AYC allows each school to state and evaluate the competencies each student acquires. Students rate how well the program delivered them.
