This program is based in applying the principles of functional movement and fascial lines, as taught by Tom Myers, to vinyasa yoga class sequencing

Core competencies

By the end of this program, graduates will be able to…

Teaching Skills
  • Create class sequence based in the pillars of functional movement, including 1) all ranges of motion 2) varying common postures 3) moving in all planes 4) active ranges of motion and 5) changing relationships with gravity
  • Plan class sequences that help counter modern postural tendencies such as upper- and lower-crossed syndromes through active engagement and ranges of motion
Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics
  • Explain planes of movement and show ability to incorporate all planes into a 60-minute vinyasa class
  • Explain fascial lines and identify what postures relate to the 6 main fascial lines
  • Discuss ranges of motions in joints and show ability to incorporate all spinal and femoral-acetabular join movements into a 60-minute vinyasa class

AYC allows each school to state and evaluate the competencies each student acquires. Students rate how well the program delivered them.
