Core competencies

By the end of this program, graduates will be able to…

Yoga History & Theory
  • Discuss the cultural traditions (hinduism, tibetan buddhism, chinese medicine, kabalistic mysticism) and primary texts (upanishads/vedas) from which chakra knowledge originates
  • Explain how the upanishads define chakras as energy centers that regulate distribution of energy, consciousness, and emotion throughout the body
  • Apply historical and cross-cultural context when introducing chakra theory to yoga students in a responsible and accurate way
  • Identify the 'mukti' (liberation) current as described by anodea judith and its role in structuring the sacred seeds flow from the ground up
  • Explain caroline myss's concept that 'biography becomes biology' and how concentrated emotions can manifest as physical injury or illness
  • Apply the energetic rationale of the mukti current to explain the ascending thread sequence of the sacred seeds flow to students
  • List all seven chakras in ascending order with their sanskrit names, locations, colors, elements, chants, and associated demons
  • Explain the energetic logic of the ascending chakra sequence and how each chakra's balance supports the activation of the next
  • Apply the complete chakra framework to map the sacred seeds flow threads (one through seven) to their corresponding chakra, element, and healing intention
  • Apply research-backed meridian concepts, articulating the therapeutic value of consistent yoga practice to students, studios, and wellness organizations
Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics
  • Identify the 12 primary meridians, their associated organs (lung, large intestine, stomach, spleen, heart, small intestine, bladder, kidney, pericardium, triple warmer, gallbladder, liver), and their yin/yang classification
  • Apply knowledge of meridian-organ relationships explaining how yoga poses may support or restore energy flow to specific organ systems
  • Explain the structural and energetic significance of the central and governing meridians and their role in spinal health, mental clarity, and overall energy regulation
  • Apply understanding of the central and governing meridians informing spinal yoga sequences that support the body's primary vertical energy channels
Practice Skills
  • Identify the five elements (earth, water, fire, air, sound/ether, light, spirit) and their corresponding chakras, threads, poses, and healing qualities in the sacred seeds system
  • Explain how breath and pranayama reduce stress, support immune function, and serve as primary medicine for the heart chakra and governing meridian
  • Demonstrate at least three pranayama techniques appropriate for different threads of the sacred seeds flow and explain their energetic effects
Lifestyle & Ethics
  • Describe how practices beyond yoga such as color therapy, chanting, journaling, swimming, and meditation, support chakra health and complement asana practice
  • Apply trauma-informed language and practices when introducing the emotional dimensions of hip-opening, heart-opening, or throat-opening sequences
Teaching Skills
  • Apply both chakra and meridian frameworks when designing class themes, choosing poses, and crafting verbal cues for each thread
