Additional Information

Core competencies

By the end of this program, graduates will be able to…

Teaching Skills
  • Analyze the relationship between somatic awareness, nervous system regulation, and trauma recovery, explaining how yoga practices can serve as tools for building resilience when taught with skill and care.
  • Demonstrate a complete student-led yoga practice for a chosen dosha or element, showing command of sequencing logic, verbal cueing, group dynamics, and real-time adaptation.
  • Analyze how Reiki and other healing modalities complement yoga instruction, identifying the appropriate scope of practice for a yoga teacher who is also a Reiki I or II practitioner.
Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics
  • Apply somatic movement principles to a yoga class by incorporating fascial release techniques, organ body awareness, and non-goal-oriented exploration into the practice.
  • Design an Earth-to-Water themed practice that moves from grounding standing poses into hip openers and pelvic bowl release work, with anatomy-informed cueing notes throughout.
  • Design a Fire element practice that integrates core strengthening, twists, digestive pranayama, and a Manipura chakra meditation into a cohesive and purposeful class.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of respiratory anatomy to the cueing of pranayama, demonstrating how precise breath instruction can access specific physiological responses in the nervous system.
Practice Skills
  • Demonstrate a complete Matrica Elements practice for a chosen element, including appropriate dynamic warm-up, peak poses, mudra, bija mantra, and closing meditation.
  • Demonstrate at least four advanced pranayama practices with correct technique, appropriate contraindication awareness, and clear verbal instruction suitable for a trained yoga student.
  • Evaluate the role of bhakti and devotional practice in the life of a Level 2 yoga teacher, examining how regular mantra and meditation practice shapes the quality of presence in the classroom.
  • Analyze the integration of mudra with asana, pranayama, and mantra in the Matrica Elements Practice framework, explaining how the combination deepens the energetic effect of each element practice.
  • Apply chakra and bandha awareness to the cueing of advanced asana and pranayama, demonstrating how engaging Mula, Uddiyana, and Jalandhara bandha refines both the physical and energetic quality of practice.
Yoga History & Theory
  • Evaluate your own leadership path as a yoga teacher by reviewing your teaching goals, identifying your areas of strength, and naming the edges where continued growth is needed.
  • Describe how the Bhagavad Gita's teachings on dharma, action, and devotion apply to the life and practice of a working yoga teacher.
  • Evaluate how your personal practice of the Yamas and Niyamas has shifted through advanced training, identifying at least two principles that have deepened in meaning.
  • Create a complete Ayurveda-informed class series covering all three doshas, with written rationale for each sequence's pose selection, breathwork, and energetic focus.
Lifestyle & Ethics
  • Apply the principles of the sacred feminine and creative embodiment to a yoga class or workshop, demonstrating how these themes shape pose selection, language, music, and closing ritual.
  • Explain how the spiritual and transformative depth of a Level 2 training amplifies both the potential for impact and the risk of harm, requiring greater attentiveness to consent, disclosure, and the use of teacher authority.
  • Identify the personal practices—including consistent sadhana, Ayurvedic self-care, peer consultation, and creative renewal—that sustain an advanced yoga teacher’s capacity to hold deep, transformative space for others.
Business Skills
  • Apply the Mindful Blossoming framework to the development of a six-week student teaching plan, demonstrating how intentional goal-setting translates into structured and purposeful instruction.
  • Create a signature offering concept—such as an elemental immersion, Bhakti retreat, somatic series, or Reiki and yoga integration workshop—that draws directly on the modalities and philosophical frameworks studied in this training.
  • Identify the key milestones of the Mindful Blossoming framework as they apply to your first year beyond Level 2 graduation, including teaching goals, offering development, community building, and continuing education.

AYC allows each school to state and evaluate the competencies each student acquires. Students rate how well the program delivered them.
