Purpose
This 3 course bundle provides an introduction to the sister sciences of yoga & ayurveda. We'll explore the 5 Elements, dive into the foundational concepts of Ayurveda, and explore how ayurveda supports hormonal balance.
What to expect
We begin with the tangible: with earth, with a sense of embodiment, groundedness, and our own experience of the 5 Elements. From there, we dive into the concepts of Ayurveda, deepening our understanding of the 5 Elements in the world beyond, and considering how they shape our sense of vitality, health, and physical, mental and spiritual experiences. Finally, we examine how Ayurveda intersects with our contemporary understanding of hormones and human physiology, to bring greater balance across the stages of our lives.
This concentration offers 75 hours of study through 3 distinct courses:
5 Elements • Yoga & Ayurveda: An introduction to the pancha maha bhutas (5 Elements) in our yoga practice and ayurveda
Ayurveda • Living Wisdom for the Body: A deep dive into the key concepts of ayurveda with Dr. Sujatha Kekada + yoga with Janet
Hormonal Balance through Ayurvedic Wisdom: An exploration of how ayurveda can support our metabolism, our nervous system and reproductive hormones
The courses are presented in an on-demand format that blends community connection.
This program is designed to support you in integrating the practices of ayurveda into your life, yoga practice and teaching.
Style/Lineage
Janet’s yoga journey began at 17 under Maharaji, her meditation teacher, whose reverence for simplicity and joy live on in her practice and teachings to this day. She shares from the depth of her own sadhana (sustained practice), her studentship in the eight-limbed path, her creative approach to asana, and her reverence for bhakti (devotional, heart-centered yoga, including chanting mantra). With over thirty years in studentship to the practice and twenty years of teaching, Janet offers classes that challenge students to investigate what they think they know, to hold compassion for what they discover within themselves, and to remember presence, the long view and the radical depth of our interconnectedness.
