Purpose

The purpose of this program is to provide each participant the opportunity to drop into their deeper sense of self and explore their next steps in their personal and professional lives. As emerging Yogis, leaders, entrepreneurs, and curious human beings all are welcome here.

What to expect

You will learn the Eight limbs of Raja Yoga as well as Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa, Yin & Restorative, Breathwork, Hands on Healing assists, Meditation/ Yoga Nidra, and Yoga Lifestyle and Philosophy. Expect a welcoming warm environment that thrives on diversity and celebration for all to feel comfortable to be their true selves. Come with an open heart and mind and follow your curiousity. You will be inspired and guided to learn to create your own way of teaching within a strong foundation and well-respected school that has been receiving Five Star Reviews for over 25 years. Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics
  • Apply the five elements by utilizing the qualities of each in your verbal cueing
  • Teach a class that incorporates all areas of fitness by incorporating strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, and mobility
  • List the major muscles of the body by identifying their names, locations, and the anatomical function that they support
  • Describe action of each muscle by demonstrating the joint action
  • Analyze the primary and secondary actions of major skeletal muscles by selecting, demonstrating, and teaching yoga postures, accurately cueing joint actions and muscular engagement
  • Describe the anatomy of the chakras by describing each energy center, organs, emotions etc.
  • Identify all major bones of the body by showing them on a skeleton model
  • describe the primary functions of the skeletal system by identifying its major components—including bones, joints, cartilage, and ligaments—and explaining their roles in support, protection, and movement
  • Apply a strong knowledge of the purpose, function, and physiology of the muscular, skeletal, and energetic systems by incorporating them into your teaching and utilizing this knowledge to create a well-balanced, safe, and effective class.
Business Skills
  • Create a personal purpose statement that reflects individual values, mission, and vision, demonstrating clarity, coherence, and alignment between stated principles and intended impact, as assessed by a qualified instructor.
  • Analyze a defined target audience by engaging in group or partner discussions, identifying key characteristics, needs, and goals relevant to yoga practice or teaching.
  • Apply knowledge of professional risk management by obtaining and/or creating essential documents and certifications, including insurance coverage, liability waivers, and CPR certification.
Lifestyle & Ethics
  • Analyze and interpret selected Yoga Sutras by articulating their key themes and applying their meaning to personal or teaching practice
  • Apply the philosophy of yoga as learned through the sutras, upanishads, bhagavad gita and vedic texts by utilizing them in your teaching cues and personal lifestyle.
Practice Skills
  • Demonstrate 50 asanas by modeling a safe form grounded in universal alignment principles and sound exercise science.
  • Demonstrate and apply the ability to provide at least three variations for each posture or practice by verbally explaining and physically demonstrating each option.
  • Demonstrate foundational breathing practices (e.g., diaphragmatic breathing, ujjayi, or equal ratio breathing) by clearly explaining technique, pacing, and intended effect, while maintaining safe and effective execution
  • Demonstrate proficiency in guided meditation by leading a complete Yoga Nidra session, including clear verbal guidance, appropriate pacing, and structured progression (e.g., body scan, breath awareness, and relaxation)
  • Lead a chants by guiding a group, maintaining accurate pronunciation, steady rhythm, and confident vocal delivery, while providing brief context or intention for the chant
Teaching Skills
  • Teach a 15-minute yoga class by demonstrating and verbally guiding a clear sequence, while incorporating appropriate cueing, pacing, and at least one modification
  • Lead asana by utilizing the 'tell, show,do, and be method of quality teaching.
  • Modify eight limb practices by offering two or three options for each.
  • Guide a personalized approach by demonstrating techniques that are based on active listening, observation and a keep therapeutic alliance.
Yoga History & Theory
  • Apply the yoga sutras by making them your own and applying them to your lifestyle.
  • Describe the kleshas by providing examples of each and how they are progressive.
  • Explain the history of yoga by identifying the timeline of each development, book or evolution.
  • Contrast the yoga philosophy with other spiritual paths by sharing your understanding of it and comparing it to other spiritual paths or religions you are familiar with.

AYC allows each school to state and evaluate the competencies each student acquires. Students rate how well the program delivered them.
