Purpose

This training blends traditional yogic teachings with a modern understanding of movement, anatomy, biomechanics, safety, accessibility, and energetics.

What to expect

One of the things that makes this program unique is the level of individualized support and personalized guidance each student receives. This is intentionally a small-group training where students are truly seen, supported, and encouraged throughout the journey. We do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to teaching or learning. Each trainee receives customized feedback, mentorship, and ongoing support to help them grow in a way that feels authentic and sustainable for them personally.

While many students join with the intention of teaching, this program is equally for those seeking personal growth, deeper self-understanding, or a stronger connection to their practice. This training asks students to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with themselves in a meaningful way. It is not simply about memorizing poses or learning how to lead a class. It is about developing awareness, building confidence, exploring personal patterns, and creating transformation from the inside out.

At Littleredyoga, we believe yoga is a lifelong practice of learning, healing, connection, and evolution. Our hope is that students leave this training not only with the skills and confidence to teach yoga safely and intentionally, but also with a deeper understanding of themselves and a renewed connection to the life they want to create.

Style/Lineage

Our 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training at Littleredyoga is so much more than learning how to teach yoga poses. This training is a journey of self-reflection, rediscovery, growth, healing, and transformation. Rooted in the traditions of Hatha Yoga, the fluidity of Vinyasa, and the energetic influence of Kundalini Yoga, this program is designed to help students deepen not only their understanding of yoga, but also their understanding of themselves.

At the center of this training are the Eight Limbs of Yoga from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Throughout the program, students explore yoga as a complete practice and way of living, one that extends far beyond the physical postures. We study ethical living, self-awareness, breathwork, mindfulness, meditation, concentration, and the connection between body, mind, and spirit. Our goal is to help students cultivate a practice that supports balance, awareness, and inner connection both on and off the mat.

Additional Information

Core competencies

By the end of this program, graduates will be able to…

Teaching Skills
  • Apply contraindication knowledge and modification strategies to adapt postures for students with injuries, medical conditions, or pregnancy, using props, verbal cues, and alternative postures as appropriate.
  • Apply verbal and hands-on adjustment techniques during a teaching practice session, demonstrating clear communication, grounded physical presence, and sensitivity to individual student needs.
  • Evaluate student responses to a sequenced class by observing energy, engagement, and comfort throughout, and use that information to refine future class design.
  • Evaluate personal teaching effectiveness using practicum feedback, self-reflection tools, and peer observation to identify strengths and develop a focused growth plan for ongoing professional development.
Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics
  • Apply knowledge of hip, knee, and ankle anatomy to offer appropriate modifications, prop support, and alignment cues for students presenting with common conditions or anatomical variations.
  • Apply knowledge of upper body and spinal anatomy to offer safe instruction in arm balances, weight-bearing poses, backbends, and transitions, including modifications for students with common injuries.
  • Apply knowledge of the nervous system and fascia to design yoga sequences that support nervous system regulation, address whole-body movement patterns, and honor the interconnected nature of physical experience.
Practice Skills
  • Analyze the effects of specific pranayama practices on the nervous system, energetic body, and mental state, including the conditions under which different techniques are most appropriate.
  • Apply bandhas and mudras appropriately within asana, pranayama, and meditation practices, integrating them into instruction with clear anatomical cues and intentional energetic guidance.
  • Apply meditation instruction techniques during a guided practice session, demonstrating appropriate pacing, accessible language, and the ability to hold space for diverse student experiences.
  • Evaluate student form in standing poses, backbends, and inversions using observation and verbal feedback, identifying misalignments and offering cues that improve safety and embodied awareness.
  • Evaluate student experience and comfort in seated and restorative poses through observation and inquiry, adjusting instruction and prop use to meet individual anatomical and energetic needs.
Yoga History & Theory
  • Evaluate how understanding asana's origins enriches a teacher's approach to class design, cueing, and the overall intention offered to students.
  • Analyze the relationship between the ethical foundations of the Eight Limbs—particularly the Yamas and Niyamas—and the physical and meditative practices that follow.
  • Apply correct Sanskrit pronunciation guidelines when introducing asana names, mantras, and philosophical terms in a class setting, demonstrating cultural respect and linguistic care.
  • Describe the three primary paths of yoga presented in the Bhagavad Gita—Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, and Bhakti Yoga—and explain how each path contributes to a unified and integrated practice.
  • Apply subtle body concepts to class design by selecting postures, breath practices, and themes that address specific chakras, vayus, or kosha layers relevant to student needs.
  • Describe how Ayurvedic principles inform a balanced yogic lifestyle, including how knowledge of one's constitution and seasonal rhythms guides diet, daily routines, and yoga practice selection.
Lifestyle & Ethics
  • Apply selected Yamas and Niyamas to real teaching situations, demonstrating how principles such as Ahimsa, Satya, and Svadhyaya inform cueing choices, student interactions, and professional boundaries.
  • Evaluate personal teaching practices for cultural sensitivity and inclusion, identifying specific adjustments that would create a more welcoming and equitable environment for all students.
  • Apply self-reflective practices—including journaling, peer observation, and contemplative inquiry—to assess personal growth and identify specific areas for continued development across the training arc.
Business Skills
  • Apply professional development principles to clarify a personal teaching mission, set initial career goals, identify a target student population, and develop a beginning marketing strategy.
  • Describe ethical and value-aligned approaches to marketing yoga services, explaining how to communicate personal teaching style, specialty areas, and commitment to accessible and inclusive yoga.
  • Describe how ongoing study, community engagement, peer support, and mentorship contribute to growth as a yoga teacher across the arc of a meaningful career.
