Purpose

Our 200 hr Foundations program is designed to provide a solid foundation for Yoga practitioners to begin their journey or dive deeper. Whether you are looking to lead group classes as an instructor or to begin a safe and effective daily practice that is healing and powerful.

Style/Lineage

A one on one holistic yoga training designed to deepen your understanding of the body, mind, and energetic system. This program blends anatomy and movement science with yogic philosophy, including the Yoga Sutras and chakra system. Each session is tailored to your learning style and personal goals, creating space for embodied practice, thoughtful study, and meaningful integration on and off the mat.

Lifestyle & Ethics
  • Evaluate ethical dilemmas related to student safety, consent, and professional boundaries
  • Develop a personal code of ethics that reflects both classical yoga values and professional standards
  • Design a personal wellness plan that integrates asana, pranayama, and contemplative practices
Practice Skills
  • Refine personal practice to embody the poses as vehicles for both physical and philosophical inquiry
  • Analyze how breath retention, extension, and rhythm affect student experience
  • Develop a structured meditation component appropriate for the level and context of a given class
Teaching Skills
  • Evaluate student feedback and observable responses to refine sequencing decisions
  • Develop a personal cueing vocabulary that is technically accurate, accessible, and culturally sensitive
  • Analyze when a hands-on assist is appropriate, contraindicated, or requires explicit consent
  • Refine teaching skills through structured feedback, self-reflection, and continued practice hours
Business Skills
  • Develop a credentialing timeline and professional development plan aligned with AYC standards
  • Analyze market conditions and community needs when planning a yoga teaching practice
  • Develop community agreements and communication protocols that reflect AYC ethical standards

AYC allows each school to state and evaluate the competencies each student acquires. Students rate how well the program delivered them.
