Purpose
The purpose of the Tree of India School of Yoga's 300-Hour Advanced Studies in Yoga is to cultivate knowledgeable, compassionate, discerning, and authentic yoga teachers who embody yoga as a lifelong path of personal practice, self-study, transformation, and service.
Rooted in the classical traditions of India and informed by contemporary understanding, this program invites experienced teachers to deepen their study of yoga philosophy and sacred texts, Haṭha Yoga and Tantra, asana, pranayama, meditation, subtle body practices, Sanskrit and mantra, functional anatomy, ethics, and the art of meaningful teaching.
Through sustained personal sadhana, teaching practice, mentorship, independent study, and reflection, students develop greater skill in adapting and communicating the practices of yoga with clarity, integrity, and compassion. The program aims not simply to give teachers more techniques, but to cultivate the discernment, embodiment, and authentic teaching voice needed to meet stud
What to expect
Throughout the training, students participate in monthly weekend intensives that combine study, discussion, experiential practice, self-inquiry, teaching labs, reflection, and community connection. The program invites experienced teachers to move beyond the mechanics of teaching yoga and deepen their understanding of yoga as a complete system of practice, self-study, transformation, and conscious living.
Major areas of study include the history and philosophy of yoga, Sanskrit and mantra, the Bhagavad Gītā, Yoga Sūtras, Haṭha Yoga, Tantra, asana as a pathway to spiritual awareness, intelligent sequencing, Living Yoga: Theme Weaving, pranayama, meditation, Yoga Nidra, subtle body practices, functional anatomy and biomechanics, Yin Yoga, restorative yoga, inclusive and adaptive teaching, trauma-aware teaching, private yoga sessions, professional ethics, and an introduction to yoga therapy and scope of practice.
Students will refine their ability to design and teach meaningful, intelligently sequenced classes; guide pranayama, meditation, and other contemplative practices; integrate philosophy and authentic themes into teaching; adapt yoga for diverse students and individual needs; and develop the skills necessary to work thoughtfully in both group and private settings.
Throughout the program, personal sādhanā remains central. Through sustained practice, independent study, teaching opportunities, mentorship, feedback, and reflection, participants cultivate greater discernment, confidence, and clarity while developing an authentic teaching voice grounded in the traditions they are entrusted to share.
The goal is not simply to learn more about yoga, but to practice more deeply, teach more skillfully, and live the teachings with greater awareness and integrity.
Style/Lineage
Yoga is far more than a series of postures. It is a lifelong practice of remembering who we truly are. At Tree of India School of Yoga, we understand yoga as a path of self-study, transformation, and compassionate action. Rooted in the wisdom of India's living traditions, our approach honors yoga as a complete system integrating movement, breath, meditation, philosophy, self-inquiry, and conscious living.
This 300-hour Advanced Studies in Yoga program is designed for experienced yoga teachers who are ready to deepen not only their knowledge, but their relationship with the practice itself. This is not simply a more advanced version of a 200-hour teacher training, nor is it a collection of continuing education workshops. It is an opportunity to study more deeply, practice more intentionally, teach with greater skill and discernment, and explore what it means to live the teachings of yoga.
Through monthly weekend intensives, personal sadhana, independent study, teaching labs, mentorship, and opportunities for reflection and integration, students explore the roots and evolution of yoga; classical texts and philosophy; Haṭha Yoga and Tantra; Sanskrit and mantra; asana as a pathway to awareness; subtle body practices; pranayama; meditation and Yoga Nidra; functional anatomy; inclusive and adaptive teaching; ethics and professional boundaries; private sessions; and the art of teaching with authenticity and presence.
A signature element of the program is Living Yoga: Theme Weaving, the practice of bringing philosophy, story, poetry, metaphor, and lived experience into teaching in ways that are authentic, relevant, and embodied. Throughout the program, students move repeatedly through a cycle of study, practice, teaching, feedback, and refinement, developing not only what they know, but how they embody and communicate what they know.
Your personal practice remains at the heart of the experience. Through sustained sadhana and self-study, you will be invited to examine.
