  • Identify major muscle groups, joints, and skeletal structures relevant to yoga practice
  • Explain how yoga practice supports each physiological system through movement and breath

  • Identify diverse teaching environments including studios, gyms, private sessions, and online platforms
Lifestyle & Ethics
  • Explain the foundational yogic values of ahimsa, satya, and related principles in teaching contexts
  • Apply scope of practice principles to realistic teaching scenarios involving student health needs
  • Explain the role of self-awareness, self-regulation, and personal growth in becoming an effective teacher
Practice Skills
  • Explain safe alignment principles and body awareness within foundational yoga postures
  • Demonstrate foundational yoga postures with safe alignment in a teaching context

  • Identify foundational pranayama techniques taught in the Sivananda and Hatha traditions

Yoga History & Theory
  • Identify the seven major chakras and their associated qualities within yogic philosophy
  • Identify key yogic texts including the Yoga Sutras, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, and Bhagavad Gita
  • Identify the Sivananda lineage including the contributions of Vishnu Devananda and Satyananda

AYC allows each school to state and evaluate the competencies each student acquires. Students rate how well the program delivered them.
