Bio
Darren is a 500-hour ERYT and has spent years training the next generation of teachers, helping them find not just technical skill but their own authentic voice on the mat. He’s the author of Yoga in the Path of the Urban Mystic, a book that explores what it means to live a contemplative life in the middle of city noise, deadlines, and everyday chaos — because let’s be honest, most of us aren’t meditating in a cave in the Himalayas.
Perhaps his most distinctive contribution to the yoga world is Yoga on the Labyrinth, a program he founded at San Francisco’s iconic Grace Cathedral, where he leads large public classes that blend movement, breath, and contemplative walking in one of the city’s most striking sacred spaces.
As a licensed massage therapist, Darren also brings a hands-on understanding of the body that shapes everything he teaches: how we hold stress, how we release it, and how movement can be medicine. His style is warm, funny, and grounded — equal parts wisdom and humility — welcoming complete beginners and lifelong practitioners into the same conversation.
If you’re looking for yoga that meets real life rather than escaping it, Darren’s classes, trainings, and writing are a good place to start.
