500Hr- Trauma-Informed YTT. CU Boulder interdisciplinary Prof: trauma-informed cultural collision alleviation, community and human development, embodiment and interoception, meditation, and the arts. Global Association of Human Trafficking Scholars and Dalai Lama Fellows Faculty
Donna Mejia was the first tenured transcultural/transnational fusion dance faculty globally. She investigated the deliberate and informed fusion of movement material beyond a single nation state or ethnic grouping. It provided a rich arena for the study cultural imperialism, expressions of emerging global citizenship, gender representation and electronic/digital globalization (2011 Fulbright Selma Jean Cohen Award for International Dance Scholarship). She served as the Inaugural Chancellor’s Scholar in Residence for Health and Wellness, Renee Crown Wellness Institute 2021-2024. In 2024 her interdisciplinary work moved to CU Libraries to be fully unboxed. Emerging from her study of tranculturalism and intersectionality, she developed the Fumble Forward Toolkit to help build communication proficiency and adaptability around cultural collisions, and fortify participants for sustained conversations around charged subjects. Donna serves as a Crown Institute Faculty Fellow, and is developing pedagogy, curricula, and programs in culturally robust studies of embodiment, somatic, and interoception, and practices in global cultural exchange. She has received numerous awards and honors for her efforts and work in the world. Donna is humbled and honored to serve as faculty for the Dalai Lama Fellows Program, and a collaborator to The Exodus Road to serve survivors of human trafficking. She instructs a weekly free and accessible chair yoga outreach class for seniors of all abilities.
