For more than three decades, Avani Jaya Bhagavati Ma has devoted her life to the study, practice, and teaching of yoga, meditation, consciousness, and holistic well-being. Teaching since 1995, she brings together ancient wisdom, modern scientific understanding, and a lifelong passion for exploring human potential.
Her journey has included extensive study of classical yoga, Science of Yoga, Eastern philosophy, meditation, breathwork, and contemplative traditions, including immersive experiences in ashrams and learning from spiritual teachers and elders.
Avani holds a bachelor's degree in Science and Business and master's degrees in Human Resources and Organizational Leadership. She has also pursued doctoral studies in Divinity and Herbal Medicine. Her additional training includes studies with the Monroe Institute and Edgar Cayce's Association for Research and Enlightenment.
As an ordained minister, counselor, educator, and facilitator, Avani integrates yogic philosophy with insights from neuroscience, anatomy, physiology, psychology, and human development, distinguishing established science from philosophical exploration and personal experience.
As the founder and lead teacher of Soul Medicine Yoga School, she believes yoga extends far beyond physical postures. Her approach encourages curiosity, compassionate self-inquiry, independent thinking, and the embodiment of wisdom in everyday life.
Her passion is cultivating knowledgeable, confident, and compassionate yoga teachers who honor each individual's unique journey and carry the transformative principles of yoga into their relationships, communities, and the world.
