Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895–1986) was an Indian philosopher and speaker who rejected the Theosophical Society's designation of him as a new World Teacher, renounced his followers and the associated Order of the Star in 1929, and spent the rest of his life traveling the world as an independent speaker and writer. His teachings focused on individual psychological freedom and self-transformation, emphasizing the need to understand and unlearn conditioned responses to bring about personal and societal change, rather than relying on any external authority, organized religion, or philosophy.
