Current influences
Some of my deepest influences come less from formal certifications and more from the lineage of teachers, mystics, and philosophers who explored the inner dimensions of practice. T. Krishnamacharya’s emphasis on adapting yoga to the individual continues to shape how I approach teaching - meeting each person where they are, rather than fitting them into a rigid system. Swami Vivekananda’s writings on Raja Yoga and the universality of spiritual truth have been foundational in understanding yoga as both a practical and philosophical path. Sri Aurobindo and The Mother have influenced my perspective on evolution of consciousness - the idea that practice is not just about personal well-being, but about participating in a larger unfolding of awareness. Anandamayi Ma’s presence and teachings embody a kind of effortless devotion and surrender that reminds me to leave space for grace, not just effort. I’m also inspired by broader streams of thought - Vedanta philosophy, Bhakti traditions, and the integration of movement and breath found in both classical and modern yoga schools. These influences continue to evolve, but they all point me toward teaching as a balance of structure and intuition, discipline and openness, technique and inner listening.
