Eclectic methods drawn from multiple traditions, contemporary sources, and thirty-five years of consistent practice, applied in individualized ways to support and guide students with their unique conditions and intentions.
Practicing yoga since 1991 and teaching since 1996, I'm the bestselling author of Teaching Yoga, Yoga Sequencing Yoga Adjustments, Yoga Therapy, Yoga for Better Sleep, and Breathing: The Art and Science of Pranayama (forthcoming 2026, Inner Traditions). I've studied broadly and deeply in multiple styles and traditions of yoga, have taken deep dives into human anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology; history and philosophy; teaching methods; and various other topics that interest me, ranging from permaculture and welding to cooking and guitar. Described by Yoga Journal as "the teacher's teacher," I've has trained thousands of teachers globally. I'm presently co-editing (with Cyndi Lee) an anthology of reflections, "Yoga Lives" (Inner Traditions, 2026), by 60 of the world's most esteemed yoga teachers ages 65–102 with 30–75+ years experience – stay tuned for that collection of gems!
