Trauma-Responsive Yoga Educator
I started my yoga practice in 1994 with Tony Sanchez of the Ghosh lineage, spiritually rooted in Kriya Yoga, grounded in asana, bayām, & yogoda practices. I began instructing in 2014, expanding my practice to Ashtanga self-practice and workshops w/ Lino Miele. In 2019, I became a certified Hatha Yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance and initiated into the Anubhava tradition.
My current yoga practice is influenced by my clinical background in neuropsychotherapy, physical medicine & rehabilitation. My style integrates the classic 8 limbs of yoga & an evidence informed lens to offer an accessible, affirming, & trauma informed practice. My work as a trauma therapist & sports clinical specialist has led me to work with athletes, activists, & minoritized populations coping with acculturative distress.
Finally, I am a fifth-generation Curandero, initiated Oluwo in the Esin Orisa Ebile tradition. My experience as a spiritual leader informs my comprehensive approach to yoga, resulting in a comparative & comprehensive approach to the 8 limbs of yoga.
