Swami Kailashananda (1913–2011), also known as Yogi Gupta, was a prominent Hindu spiritual teacher who brought Hatha Yoga to the United States in 1954 after a successful legal career in India. He founded the Yogi Gupta New York Center, one of the first Hatha Yoga institutions in the U.S., and established organizations in India and the U.S. to promote yoga and nature cure. Known for his mastery of nine forms of yoga, his teachings emphasized both the practical techniques and spiritual dimensions of yoga, as well as a focus on diet and holistic health.
