Swami Vishnudevananda (1927–1993) was an Indian yoga guru who founded the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres, a global network of yoga centers and ashrams, after being sent by his master, Swami Sivananda, to spread the teachings of yoga in the West. He authored bestselling books like The Complete Illustrated Book of Yoga and pioneered the Sivananda Yoga Teachers' Training Course. Vishnudevananda was also a prominent advocate for world peace, known for his "peace flights" over conflict zones.
