MEDITATION ESSENTIALS
Begin, restart, or refine your practice of meditation
Who this is for
Perfect for any student interested in creating a regular meditation practice, but not knowing how to begin. Also great for existing practitioners whose meditation may have become a little stale, or less regular.
Benefits
Through our two day exploration, we’ll examine what meditation is, and is not, and clear up misconceptions and expectations. We'll review how to set up a comfortable seat for practice, as well as learn a couple of different types of meditation to take home and work with. The practices you learn in the first session of the series we'll review in the second session to refine our understanding.
What to expect
The theory of meditation sits primarily inside the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, and we'll use it as one source to give context of yoga as a practice of meditation. We'll also look forward into the Tantra practices of meditation to explore how meditation is as vital to one’s practice as asana. Unpacking some of the theory of meditation will help enliven its practice, with each day offering a few different practices, lively discussion, and a chance to meditate together.
