Benefits
Join Sarah Evenson of Wild Waters Wellness and Danielle Foertsch Newman of Snowy Cedar Center for Wellness for a nourishing two-day exploration of Ayurveda, yoga, embodiment, and sensory awareness. This weekend mini-retreat experience in the beauty of fall colors in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, invites you to move beyond simply learning about Ayurveda and instead begin to experience its wisdom through your own body, rhythms, senses, and everyday life.
What to expect
Across two beautifully connected days, we’ll explore how the ancient traditions of Ayurveda and yoga can offer practical ways to understand yourself more deeply, reconnect with nature’s rhythms, and become more conscious of what you take in—physically, mentally, emotionally, and energetically.
DAY ONE — Living Ayurveda
Saturday, October 3 | 1:00–4:30 PM
With Sarah Evenson of Wild Waters Wellness
Ayurveda translates as the “Science of Life” or “Wisdom of Living.” Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all prescription for wellness, Ayurveda invites us to understand our own unique constitution and develop a more conscious relationship with the rhythms of nature and our bodies.
In this interactive and experiential introduction to Living Ayurveda, we’ll explore:
* Your unique doshic blueprint
* The three doshas and their qualities
* The six tastes and their relationship to digestion
* Daily rhythms and simple rituals that support alignment with nature
* How to begin recognizing what your body is communicating
* Practical ways to bring Ayurvedic wisdom into everyday life
We’ll share Ayurvedic tea and a light seasonal nourishing food offering, with plenty of opportunity for conversation, reflection, and Q&A.
Ayurveda doesn’t ask you to add another complicated wellness routine to your life. It supports a deepening of the relationship with your unique body and recognizing your own patterns and discovering simple ways to live in greater harmony with your body, the natural world, and our human experience.
Come curious. Leave with simple, yet profound, next steps.
DAY TWO — Tanmatra Chikitsa
Sunday, October 4 | 10:00 AM–12:30 PM
With Danielle Foertsch Newman of Snowy Cedar Center for Wellness
Tanmatra Chikitsa invites participants to experience Healing Through the Senses. In Ayurveda and Samkhya philosophy, the tanmatras are described as the subtle essences underlying sensory experience:
Shabda — sound
Sparsha — touch
Rupa — form / sight
Rasa — taste
Gandha — smell
On Sunday, Danielle will invite you to explore these not simply as philosophical concepts, but as embodied experiences. Through Ayurveda, yoga, meditation, pranayama, and sensory awareness, we’ll explore how what we take in through our senses can influence our inner landscape.
Together, we'll consider pratyahara—the inward turning of awareness—not as withdrawing from the senses, but as becoming more conscious of our relationship with sensory experience. For each tanmatra, the focus will be experiential, exploring ways to embody these principles through the eight limbs of yoga.
The morning will culminate in a Sound Bath Nidra, supporting your mind and body to integrate and harmonize with living your Ayurveda.
The Weekend Journey
Saturday: Understand your nature.
Explore your body, constitution, digestion, rhythms, and relationship with the natural world.
Sunday: Experience through your senses.
Explore what you take in, how it shapes your inner landscape, and how awareness can transform your relationship with the world.
Together, these two days create an invitation to listen more deeply—to your body, your senses, your environment, and your own inner knowing.
This holistic wellness weekend is for anyone who feels called to slow down, reconnect, and learn a fresh approach to your healthiest and most vibrant life. Rooted in nature’s wisdoms and ways, be immersed in the living science and wisdoms of Ayurveda and Yoga.
