  • Apply prop-based modifications and hands-on assists, demonstrating correct placement, verbal framing, and trauma-sensitive delivery for students with varying physical needs.
  • Create and deliver a fully documented yoga class that includes a written sequence, a personal Dharma talk, a curated playlist, and a reflective teaching journal entry connecting pedagogical choices to personal values.
  • Identify common special population categories—prenatal, seniors, chronic pain, trauma survivors, and beginners—and recognize the primary physical, psychological, and energetic considerations relevant to each.
  • Lead a progressive shoulder-strengthening and flexibility sequence, demonstrating targeted anatomy work and safe preparatory progressions toward inversions and arm balances.
  • Design and teach a trauma-informed Restorative class with a written plan, fully configured postures with prop set-up guidance, a trauma-sensitive verbal script, and a structured closing integration.
  • Apply alignment principles in a live or recorded teaching session, demonstrating postures with full verbal instruction, anatomical cueing, modifications, and appropriate use of props.
  • Teach pranayama techniques and meditation methods, demonstrating correct instruction sequence, appropriate ratio timing, contraindication screening, and responsive adjustment to student feedback.
Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics
  • Identify the primary fascial lines—including the superficial back line, spiral line, and functional lines—and recognize their relevance to common yoga movement patterns and postural tendencies.
  • Identify muscles, joints, and connective tissue structures most relevant to yoga practice, correctly stating each structure's origin, insertion, action, and relevance to common yoga postures.
  • Apply knowledge of nervous system physiology to select and sequence breathwork and asana practices that shift students between activation and restoration states with intention and safety.
Practice Skills
  • Describe how the four parts of the breath map to feminine (Shakti) and masculine (Shiva) energies, explaining the physiological and energetic effects of intentional breath modulation.
  • Describe the neurological and physiological effects of sustained meditation practice, including changes in brainwave patterns, cortisol regulation, and structural neuroplasticity relevant to yoga teachers.
Yoga History & Theory
  • Create and facilitate a multi-modal subtle body healing session with a written plan stating the chakra focus, selected modalities, sequencing rationale, contraindications, and closing integration practice.
  • Evaluate real-world teaching dilemmas using the Gita's framework of Dharma, selflessness, and non-attachment, applying its teachings to determine an appropriate professional response.
  • Describe stories of key deities—such as Krishna, Radha, Durga, Hanuman, or Lakshmi—explaining each deity's primary teaching, their relevance to yogic philosophy, and how their stories can enrich class themes.
  • Apply a structured Vipassana-informed practice sequence incorporating Pranayama, concentration, and open awareness practices, demonstrating correct sequencing and appropriate verbal guidance.
  • Evaluate the relevance of classical yogic concepts—such as Ahimsa, Maya, Prakriti/Purusha, or the Kleshas—for contemporary teachers working in diverse cultural and social contexts.
Lifestyle & Ethics
  • Design a complete Ayurvedic lifestyle plan that integrates Dinacharya, seasonal diet, Doshic-appropriate asana and pranayama, a self-massage or beauty practice, and a relationship or community (Satsang) element, with written rationale for every recommendation.
  • Design and facilitate a Nada Yoga sound healing journey with a written facilitation plan specifying instruments used, frequencies or notes chosen, chakra or thematic focus, and safety considerations.
  • Create and present a final Capstone Teaching Project—a live class, workshop, or community service offering—with a written plan, teaching documentation, and a personal reflection on the journey.
Business Skills
  • Describe the professional and ethical responsibilities of a yoga teacher—including consent, confidentiality, scope of practice, social media conduct, and cultural accountability.
