Purpose

Our Teacher Certification Course is designed for 200 hour + certified yoga teachers with equestrian experience and access to a horse?Yoga instructors will find an unparalleled opportunity to infuse the teachings of yoga with the essence of the equine world, crafting transformative sessions that artfully meld posture, breath, and profound connection to their horse partners.

What to expect

Course Details

Online Track + 4-Day In-Person Training

  • 55 hours TOTAL online & in-person.

    • 30 hour online course

    • 25 hour in person experiential retreat.

      • 3 night/4 day in-person experiential

      • At Retreat Ranch in Marble Falls, TX

  • Must be a 200 hour+ Yoga Certified Teacher

  • Full payment due by start of in-person retreat

  • Certifies to teach Equine Yoga to others

  • An additional 10 practicum hours required

  • Digital & paper certificates

Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics
  • Assess a positioning choice for its biomechanical soundness, evaluating whether it accounts for the horse's structure and balance.
  • Apply breath-based techniques known to engage the parasympathetic system, using pacing suited to eliciting a relaxation response.
  • Apply co-regulation techniques during a session, using slow breath and grounded presence to invite a settled equine response.
  • Apply chakra-themed awareness during a session, using breath and intention aligned to a chosen energetic center.
Business Skills
  • Develop a business plan for a new equine yoga offering, formulating a coherent identity across sessions and materials.
  • Apply promotional techniques suited to an equine yoga audience, using imagery and messaging that reflect the offering's character.
  • Formulate a set of liability and ethics guidelines for a new offering, developing standards for consent, disclosure, and participant care.
Lifestyle & Ethics
  • Apply a chosen niyama to personal preparation before a session, using it to guide a specific habit or mindset.
  • Assess personal wellbeing changes across several sessions, evaluating consistency between stated intentions and felt outcomes.
  • Formulate a personal code of conduct for working with equine partners, developing standards for care, rest, and respectful boundaries.
Practice Skills
  • Construct a sequence of mindfulness activities for a themed session, formulating an order that builds toward deepening presence.
  • Assess personal focus and steadiness across an equine meditation session, evaluating consistency of attention throughout.
  • Identify the primary bandhas used in yogic practice, identifying mula bandha, uddiyana bandha, and jalandhara bandha among them.
  • Practice a pranayama technique while near a horse, using consistent pacing and posture throughout the sequence.
  • Develop a personal practice sequence that progresses from ground poses to horseback adaptations, formulating a build that supports steady confidence.
Yoga History & Theory
  • Name foundational yogic texts, identifying the Upanishads and the Yoga Sutras among the works that inform modern practice.
  • Identify the paths of yoga described in the Bhagavad Gita, naming karma, bhakti, and jnana yoga among them.
  • Identify the origins of equine yoga as a distinct practice, naming the combination of traditional yoga with equine partnership.

AYC allows each school to state and evaluate the competencies each student acquires. Students rate how well the program delivered them.
