Purpose

Along the way, you will learn to identify psychological barriers, limiting beliefs, and embodied emotional responses—empowering you to become your own healer while supporting others in releasing old patterns. This integrative process illuminates unconscious material, creating the freedom to consciously design and live a life that is authentic, aligned, and deeply fulfilling.

This training also supports you in expanding your current teaching and offerings through intelligent, intuitive sequencing inspired by your unique gifts and personal medicine. You will learn how to design holistic classes and ceremonial experiences that align with your values, wisdom, and lived experience. Through somatic-based practices, you will develop a nuanced understanding of the body through the lens of the nervous system—revealing how transformation unfolds on physical, emotional, mental, and energetic levels.

Throughout this 300-hour YTT, you will learn how to skillfully hold space for yourself and diverse communities through the principles and practices of holistic yoga psychology. Through somatic movement, intuitive exploration, and emotional release techniques, you will gently uncover what is ready to be revealed in the present moment. Together, we dive beneath the surface of awareness to access profound self-reflection, inner healing, and soul growth.

  • Design a short class segment that incorporates a mudra alongside pranayama, formulating instruction that ties the two practices together clearly.
Business Skills
  • Develop a personal positioning statement and biography, formulating language that reflects a clear teaching identity and target student.
  • Develop a simple strategic plan for a teaching practice, formulating a mission statement and three to five career objectives.
  • Develop a short plan for approaching new teaching venues, formulating a list of target locations suited to a stated teaching style.
  • Develop a simple marketing and student-loyalty plan for a teaching practice, formulating specific actions for both attracting and retaining students.
Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics

  • Develop a themed practice built around a chakra and its associated prana vayu, formulating breath and movement choices that reflect both.

  • Design a short sequence that trains a specific muscle action pattern, formulating pose choices that build strength or awareness in that pattern.

  • Assess a facilitated stretching technique for proper sequencing, evaluating whether the contract-relax steps are being applied correctly.
Lifestyle & Ethics
  • Evaluate a personal pattern of response to challenges, assessing which level of the medicine wheel it most closely reflects.
  • Develop a personal reintegration plan following an intensive experience, formulating specific steps across practice, community, and relationships.

Practice Skills
  • Develop a personal pranayama practice sequence, formulating an order that moves safely from foundational breathing to more advanced kumbhaka work.
  • Construct a personal practice sequence integrating all three bandhas, formulating an order and pacing suited to a seated pranayama session.
  • Develop a personal mudra practice paired with meditation or pranayama, formulating a combination suited to a stated personal intention.
  • Develop a personal chanting routine combining mantra and medicine song, formulating a structure suited to a stated spiritual intention.
Yoga History & Theory
  • Evaluate a personal practice against a concept drawn from the Bhagavad Gita, assessing how closely it reflects that teaching.
  • Evaluate a personal habit or routine for its likely influence on the gunas, assessing whether it tends to stabilize, agitate, or dull the mind.
  • Evaluate which of the four paths of yoga best matches a described personality or life situation, justifying the match with specific reasoning.
  • Evaluate a personal practice against the eight limbs, assessing which limbs are well developed and which are underdeveloped.

AYC allows each school to state and evaluate the competencies each student acquires. Students rate how well the program delivered them.
